Frosty leaves

The Snowy Nap by Jan Brett

Jan Brett fans rejoice!  Here is another gorgeous book for your young one’s collection.

From the Publisher: (Penguin Random House):  “When winter comes, Hedgie tries to stay awake so he doesn’t miss out on all the fun his friends are having. Snow is on the way, and as Hedgie trundles around the farm all his friends tell him of the winter-time fun he will miss as he hibernates–Icicles decorating the chicken coop! Lisa making snowmen! The pond turned to slippery ice! It sounds so amazing, Hedgie decides to stay awake instead of going to his burrow. But then a snowstorm starts. Luckily, Lisa finds him and brings him inside so Hedgie gets to see the wonders of winter from inside the cozy house.”

P.S.  Have your little one paint their very own hedgehog stone after reading their new book

Santa Bruce by Ryan T. Higgins

The kids will just laugh out loud while reading or listening to this book.

From the Publisher (Disney Books):  “Everyone’s favorite curmudgeonly bear is back, and this time he and his goslings are gearing up for Christmas!  Bruce is a lot of things. He is a bear. He is a grump. He is a pretty decent cook. And he is a mother. One thing Bruce is not? Santa Claus. But that doesn’t stop the whole forest from lining up to give him their Christmas wishes when he becomes the victim of mistaken identity—again. Kids will howl with laughter as award-winning author-illustrator Ryan T. Higgins delivers another hilarious story about this bear who just can’t catch a break.”

P.S. Pair this book with a super soft teddy bear.  You can never have too many.

Got to Get to Bear’s! by Brian Lies

Bundle up for this wonderful story.

From the Publisher ( Houghton Mifflin Harcourt):  “Bear never asks for anything. So when a letter arrives for the little chipmunk Izzy, urgently requesting her presence, she can’t refuse–even if there is a blizzard on the way! This heartwarming tale of friendship from bestselling author Brian Lies will melt even the chilliest of hearts.”

P.S. Heads will be cozy and warm this winter in this fuzzy hat!

The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors by Drew Daywalt

Fans of the book, The Day the Crayons Quit, will love this new one by Drew Daywalt.

From the Publisher (HarperCollins), “From acclaimed, bestselling creators Drew Daywalt, author of The Day the Crayons Quit and The Day the Crayons Came Home, and Adam Rex, author-illustrator of Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich, comes a laugh-out-loud hilarious picture book about the epic tale of the classic game Rock, Paper, Scissors.”

P.S.  How about a Rock Paper Scissor card game to go along with the legend!

Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson

This is not a new book by any means, but it was one of my favorites growing up.

From the Publisher (HarperCollins):  “One evening Harold decides to go for a walk in the moonlight. Armed only with an oversize purple crayon, young Harold draws himself a landscape full of wonder and excitement.

Harold and his trusty crayon travel through woods and across seas and past dragons before returning to bed, safe and sound. Full of funny twists and surprises, this charming story shows just how far your imagination can take you.”

P.S. How can you not include a giant box of crayons with this book.
