Guest Writer ~ Hester Fox
Dear Book Lovers! Happy Guest Writer Wednesday! I am so excited to have author Hester Fox on the blog today. Hester is the author of The Witch of Willow Hall and The Widow of Pale Harbor (Graydon House). She is the queen of spooky ghost tales set in New England. Think castles set on a hill surrounded by blankets of fog and ocean mist with a ghost or two lingering in the background. If this sounds like your cup of tea, you will LOVE Hester’s books.

Audio Books Worth Your Hours
Dear Mr. Hemingway,
I need to say something and I really hope you and everyone else hears this correctly. AUDIO BOOKS COUNT AS READING! I can’t believe that there are actual people in the world that believe this to be untrue. I am setting the record straight today. Listening to your books vs. reading a physical book comes down to modality. One uses visual, while the other uses auditory. That is it. Still reading!

Our discussion covered some of the highlights in the book but certainly did not cover everything. Let’s jump right in!

Off With Her Head
Dear Mr. Hemingway,
Do you remember Henry VIII? You know, the English King from the 1500s who was known for his six wives. Well, through the years, I have personally had a small obsession with him and his many wives. You can imagine how excited I was when I found out there was a fictional re-telling of his reign set in the 21st century.

Get A Room!!!
Dear Mr. Hemingway,
WOW!!!!! That is all I have to say about today’s book. I am always blown away when an author can write something that causes such an intense, visceral reaction. Murder, ghosts, and fear are what’s on tap for today.

Books About Bookshops About Books About Bookshops
Dear Mr. Hemingway,
Wander the streets of Paris and you will never return home the same. La Ville Lumiere (The City of Lights) is what she is called. Paris sucks you in with the taste of your first cafe au lait. A city where art and intellect are the norm and glamour and romance is the marinade of choice. Imagine being cozied upon an old weathered leather couch feeling the draft of a door opening and closing.

GUEST WRITER ~ Claire Lombardo
Dear Book Lovers,
I am beyond excited to introduce you to today’s guest writer…Claire Lombardo. If you do not know who this gorgeous writer is, let me fill you in. Claire’s debut novel, The Most Fun We Ever Had (Doubleday), was released in June 2019 (you know, the thick book with all of the ginkgo leaves on the cover). This family drama was an instant New York Times bestseller.

Honor codes, Secret Societies & Traditions.…Oh My!
Dear Mr. Hemingway,
What does a prestigious all-girls boarding school with a dead student hanging from the front gates make you think of??? My first thought would be that the cast from Gossip Girl invaded Rory Gilmore’s Chilton High School (not a boarding school, but same idea) and something BIG “goes down”. Well, if you think that makes an interesting combo, you must check out J.T. Ellison’s new book, Good Girls Lie.

Which Way Should I Swipe?
January 3, 2020
Dear Mr. Hemingway,
Welcome to 2020! A New year with brand new books! What is not to love? What I choose to read depends on my mood. Sometimes I crave something with twists and turns and utter suspense. While other times, I have a hankering for historical fiction or a fabulous memoir. Most recently though, I have been enjoying cuddling up in bed with a warm and fuzzy read.

Giddy-Up…Get Your Holiday Romance On!
December has arrived and the Holiday season is in full swing. Here in Maine, the ground is covered in snow, the fireplace is roaring and cozy reading is officially the name of the game. I am a sucker for curling up on my couch under a blanket and devouring romance books. Who doesn’t want to end their day (or start it) reading a story filled with an all-consuming passion, earth-shattering desire, and smoking hot chemistry between characters?

I Believe In You
Dear Mr. Hemingway,
A book doesn’t need to be long to tell a full story. Sometimes the greatest things come in the smallest packages. I just recently read, Red At The Bone by Jacqueline Woodson. Woodson’s story revolves around a teen couple’s unplanned pregnancy and how it impacts three generations of their African American families. Don’t be fooled by the length of this book.

I Love You A Bushel & A Peck
Dear Mr. Hemingway,
There is nothing better than kicking back with a good old fashion romance book. A story filled with magical first kisses, romantic tension, and a happy ending is my kind of escape. Susan Mallery, #1 New York Times best-selling author has written countless (and I mean countless) romance novels. Her latest, Meant To Be Yours hits shelves today.

A Chickadee & A Raven Perched In A Tree
Dear Mr. Hemingway,
October is here and it’s time to shift reading gears. Witches, haunted castles, and dark stormy nights are my jam. I am not talking gore with a side of blood and guts. Just good old fashioned spooky that brings out a few goosebumps. Let’s face it, there is something ghostly about autumn on the rocky coast of Maine. I should know, I live here. Icy blue ocean waves and trees covered in autumn leaves are to be expected.
